(Orwigsburg, PA) - Preferred Warranties Inc., a leader in extended service contracts for pre-owned vehicles, has announced the winners of its third annual Values Awards. Six winning dealerships were selected by the PWI Values Team, a committee of PWI employees formed in 2009 to identify and promote the core values on which the company was built and continues to grow.
Along with a framed Award Certificate, each winning dealership will be honored with a cash donation made in their name to the local charity of their choice. The competition was open to the 2000+ dealerships that offer Preferred Warranties protection plans with their pre-owned cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles and ATVs.
Gates Used Cars of Pearland, Texas, was named the winner of PWI’s Overall Award, for its commitment to the five values shared by the two organizations: Integrity, Pursuit of Excellence, Community, Service and Fun.
“If we are good to others, they will be good to us and come back,” explained Sarah Reid, Gates’ office manager. Their philosophy extends from the quality of cars they sell to their activities in the church and surrounding community. Preferred Warranties will make a $500 donation in their name to sponsor youth scholarships to attend the Fanatic Conference of the San Jacinto Church.
Five other dealerships – each selected for exemplifying a different one of Preferred’s five core values – will each receive a $250 donation, made in their name to the charity of their choice.
The INTEGRITY AWARD was given to All American Pre-owned Autos, Elkins, WV. “From day one this dealer has demonstrated very high values and ethical behavior,” notes William Jurick, PWI’s nominating sales consultant. “Dave Whittaker, the owner, has always done what he said he would do, always does the right thing for his customers.” They are also doing the right thing by the Randolph County Humane Society, who will receive a $250 donation in their name.
The PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE AWARD was won by Lawson Bros. Quality Auto, Sugar Grove, PA. “A mechanical breakdown left a customer’s family stranded far from home on one of the hottest days of summer,” recounts PWI sales consultant Steve Hays as an example. “They were returning from vacation and funds were low. Dave Lawson provided the means for the family, which included a baby and toddler, to check into a motel with a pool until their car was repaired.” Lawson Bros. plans to match PWI’s $250 donation to the local branch of the Salvation Army.
The winner of the COMMUNITY AWARD is Del Real Auto Sales, Lafayette, IN. “I’m not sure any dealer in the country exemplifies the value of Community more than Tony Del Real,” explains PWI sales consultant Chris Shine. “He’s an active volunteer with the Indiana Independent Auto Dealers Association, Purdue Clinton County Extension Office, the Chamber Council of Greater Lafayette Commerce, the Rossville Lions Club and youth baseball leagues. He’s also President of United Businesses Serving the Community,” who will receive PWI’s $250 donation in the dealership’s name.
The winner of the SERVICE AWARD, Huber Automotive of Westerville, Ohio, is a genuine family business, explains PWI sales consultant Jim Boszor, “It was started in 1959 by Charles ‘Sonny’ Huber, who is remembered for his compassion, honesty and integrity. Those values were passed on to brothers Dave and Tim Huber, who now operate a three-acre, pre-owned dealership featuring an indoor showroom, a full service center and a detail shop, with more than 80 vehicles in inventory. They have three generations working in the dealership, from management to car washers. After five decades, they still put service first.” A $250 donation will be made in their name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Cars are fun, and the customer-friendly attitude and reputation of J & M Truck Sales, Dallas County, TX, makes it fun for the whole family. At the same time, this winner of PWI’s 2011 FUN AWARD also takes quality very seriously, providing service contracts on all their vehicles. “They get a lot of repeat business,” explains nominating PWI sales consultant John Bateman. “Whole families buy their cars from J & M – as many as five cars in a single family.” A $250 donation will be made in their name to the Challenger League, Forney Youth Baseball Association.
